The Studio | Anne Hedlund

The Studio

The dance studio was originally founded in September of 1981 under the name of Chris & Anne's Dance Studio.  At the suggestion of her dance teacher and mentor, the late Dorothy Lundstrum (at right), Anne approached the pastor and principal of St. Anne's Parish who gave their wholehearted support to the idea of a dance studio on site. In those early years, Anne taught ballet and her sister, Chris Maros, taught the tap & jazz classes. Their talented mother, Mary Jane Piazza, graciously accepted the position of piano accompanist and bookkeeper.

Hundreds of young dancers passed through the doors of Chris & Anne's Dance Studio. Mary Jane retired from playing the piano in June of 1990 and at the end of the 1995 season, Chris stopped teaching. Anne still had two younger daughters that she wished to keep teaching. Therefore, in September 1995 Anne's Dance Studio was formed with Anne at the helm as full time teacher and bookkeeper. With the support of very talented piano accompanists, as well as help from students and parents, she has continued with quality dance lessons.

In October of 2008 the studio moved to its current location at It Figure’s Fitness for Women, 4101a West Broadway in Robbinsdale, Minnesota.

Anne Hedlund

Anne's first dance days at the age of four were at MickRay Studio on 21st Penn Ave. N. continuing through some of the local dance studios. She studied Cecchetti ballet at MacPhail Center for the Arts and Russian classical ballet at The American School of Russian Classical Ballet and St. Anthony Park School of Dance. She considers her most valuable learning experience the 24 years spent studying ballet, tap, and jazz under the late Dorothy Lundstrum.

Anne's passion for teaching children is evident in her accomplishments. She has choreographed five 8th grade musicals for St. Anne's School, a Christmas play, 50's Revue and ten spring concerts for Sacred Heart School in Robbinsdale, as well as produced 25 dance recitals.

Anne has been happily married to her husband since 1974. They have three daughters and two sons, all have taken dance from their mother.

The goal of Anne's Dance Studio is to provide good solid dance instruction in a comfortable, friendly atmosphere. We believe that we have achieved this goal.
